New Jersey Weather: The best day of the week will be Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving week is one of the most important weather forecasts of the year. Yes, so far, Thanksgiving Thursday will be the warmest and most beautiful day of the week.

There are two notable cold fronts this week: one on Monday and one around Friday. Every time it brings short rainfall. There is also some wind, which may cause delays in regional airports. (During strong winds, arrival and departure are separated for safety's sake.)

Another big story will be the untimely cold air. This can feel like mid-December/mid-February, rather than the end of November. A terrible "wind chill" also appeared in the conversation.

We started the shortened work week with wet weather. At the time of writing (6 AM), the biggest rainfall of the day has already begun. Throughout the morning, raindrops will sweep from northwest to southeast. We have seen improvements in NW NJ. The southern coast may remain wet until around noon.

Again, this storm system is no big deal. There is no bad weather. There is no winter weather. It just rained.

It was cloudy for most of Monday afternoon with a cool breeze. The temperature will also begin to drop, from about 50 degrees in the morning to about 40 degrees in the afternoon.

Then Monday night will be very cold. By Tuesday morning, the thermometer will drop to about 30 degrees. Any breeze will push the wind chill (the "feeling" temperature) into your teens and twenties. The sky will become clear overnight.

There are some selected attractions along the coast and around Essex/Hudson County that have not frozen this season. If the winning streak does not end on Monday night, then Tuesday night will definitely end.

Gale is the word. At this time of the year, the high temperature will only reach more than 40 degrees, more than 10 degrees lower than normal. Add a continuous northwest wind at a speed of 10 to 20 miles per hour, and the wind chill will stay in your 30s (at most) all day long.

Don't be surprised by the coldness of winter on this originally partly sunny and dry day.

We will do better on the Great Escape Day. It is expected that on another cold morning, large areas of ice will freeze in the whole state. On Wednesday afternoon, plenty of sunshine and calm wind will help the temperature rise to more than 40 degrees. At least, the absence of strong winds and precipitation will ease the travel conditions.

Cold turkey? Not so many this year. The change of wind from west to southwest will result in a short warm-up and our only timely day of the week.

Morning lows in the "frost zone" in the mid-1930s. The afternoon high in the mid-1950s. The perfect combination of sunlight and clouds. Light breeze. Dry weather.

It seems very suitable for travel, parades, football matches, outdoor cooking/dining, etc.

Our next cold front is expected to slide over New Jersey on Friday morning. (It may be late on Thursday night-worth seeing.) We are again faced with a few hours of rain. It was cooled by a gust of wind. There is a risk of snow flakes at the very end of the storm system, but I do not foresee accumulation or travel effects.

The temperature on Friday will remain above 40 degrees.

Then Saturday and Sunday may be the coldest weekends since March. The high temperature will hardly exceed 40 degrees. Otherwise, nothing happened and there was no threat of rain or snow throughout the weekend.

In general, by the end of November, we will face lower than normal temperatures and quiet weather.
