A former Laurel Mountain resident who became the center of gun rights cases a decade ago is now charged with attempted murder in Colorado.

According to the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Brian D. Aitken was charged with criminal charges in Telluride on Friday and was reported by the Courier and Post. New Jersey reported for the first time.

According to a report in the Telluride Planet Daily, a shooting incident occurred near a Telluride school on Friday, resulting in a brief lockdown of students, faculty and staff.

“There was a shooting incident in a residence near the campus. The bailiff can now control the suspect’s detention scene,” the same report said.

It is not clear whether Aitken was involved in the reported incident.
